Happy New Year from Barrisol BC. To start the year we would like to share with you a printed and backlit Barrisol ceiling we installed at The Smithe by Boffo Developments in Vancouver, BC. It features the art of local BC artist, Ben Reeves.

Thanks to Boffo Developments for the following video, which so well encapsulates the beauty of the design concept and the Barrisol stretch ceiling itself. Our congratulations to artist Ben Reeves for the creation of this stunning public art piece, Viewpoint. As Jan Ballard said, it is "a jewel in the sky".

An interesting coincidence is that artist Ben Reeves teaches at Emily Carr University and the photographer, Rachel Topham, has worked with us previously to photograph the art of Emily Carr (Big Raven) as part of a residential project that we completed a few years back in collaboration with the Vancouver Art gallery. Barrisol featured in The Irish Times

As we bring in the new year we can't help but to be uplifted by the realization that spring is just around the corner.

Today we discovered a reference to Barrisol in an online article called "Up the Walls" in The Irish Times. It featured a Barrisol Artolis wall print with gorgeous flower blooms. Another reminder of spring.

Here is an excerpt...

"Barrisol, a French company that specialises in digitally-printed stretch materials, provides dramatic ceiling scapes and back drops that look as if they have been painted in situ. Much of its work is in commercial spaces such as offices, hotels and conference centres where its stretched fabric works with lighting schemes and acoustic panelling to create different ambiences.

But the fabric panels can also be used to gorgeous effect in domestic settings. The range of patterns on offer is mind-boggling thanks to a partnership with the French textile museum, Musée de l’Impression sur Étoffes, which has around six million designs in its archive collected since 1833. Blow-ups of the patterns accentuate the design for more unusual effects."

The printed and back lit Barrisol ceiling, at the ARC Vancouver, can be seen in the recent Dailyhive.com news article, "There's now a surreal 200-ft high, glass-bottom pool in downtown Vancouver", by Kenneth Chan.

Article Excerpt:
"While the pool is certainly the centrepiece of the tower’s design, it is enhanced by a colourful ‘Ode to Canada’ ceiling design. During nighttime, the illuminated pool, with light bouncing off the ceiling, turns the underside into a beacon for the tower." -Kenneth Chan

Barrisol Print...

Here are 4 excellent examples of printed Barrisol ceilings. Printing is completed in France prior to the ceiling being shipped. The membrane will go through the printer 3 times to allow for excellent print quality. Barrisol has a variety of stock images (both free and with a charge) or you can provide your own image. Choose an opaque fabric or a translucent fabric (so the image can be back lit).

The Quang Ninh Museum in Vietnam includes an "ARTOLIS" printed wall installation.

This installation shows the excellent print quality of the material and also features it's ability to help create the feeling of being in an outdoor landscape while inside an urban setting.

In our experience, we have found that nature photography and art prints are a perfect choice for commercial, industrial, and residential spaces, as they help to create a sense of calm and wonder within a room.

Emily Carr Print In Partnership With VAG

This West Vancouver wine room features the Emily Carr painting Big Raven, printed on the Barrisol's Artolis wall fabric. Thanks to the Vancouver Art Gallery for their work providing the graphic file. We look forward to a continued relationship with the VAG to bring your print projects to fruition. Both the Barrisol stretch ceiling system and the Barrisol Artolis wall fabric can be printed, allowing for custom images, art reproductions and aesthetic diversity.
